The Story of Peruvian Nikkei

Peruvian Nikkei was born in 2018, founded by Elvis Rafael Barrera García, a chef with extensive experience in Peruvian-Japanese cuisine. After nine years working at one of the most renowned restaurants in Buenos Aires, Elvis faced an unexpected setback that left him unemployed. But instead of giving up, he turned that challenge into an opportunity.


A trip to Peru and an invitation to open a restaurant in the Rodrigo Bueno neighborhood marked the beginning of this journey. Through hard work and passion, a small place was born under the name El Sabor del Pisco Fusión. Later, thanks to a strategic vision, it adopted the name that defines us today: Peruvian Nikkei, a tribute to the fusion that inspires us and a name that’s easy to remember.

The early days were not easy. Acceptance came slowly, but perseverance, faith, and love for cooking made all the difference. A feature in a major Argentine media outlet became a turning point: the public began to discover the true flavor of Peruvian Nikkei.

Elvis then decided to take things further. He began studying gastronomy and trained in different areas to elevate his project. Today, Peruvian Nikkei is a recognized brand with international potential.

Our purpose goes beyond cooking: it's to inspire those who dream of starting their own journey. As Elvis says:
